Hong Kong Senior Secondary Students Putonghua Public Speech Competition 2017—Grand Final Competition rounded off
The Grand Final Competition was held on 22nd July 2017 in Academic and Administrative Building – Block, drawing a perfect end to the captioned project，which began in September 2015.
A total of forty-five students from twenty-four secondary schools took part in the preliminary competition, in which eighteen students entered the final competition held on the same day successfully. In the final competition, Cherry Cheung from Heung To Secondary School (Tseung Kwan O) ranked the first place, while the competition decided two silver awards、three bronze awards and six merit awards as well. Two secondary Schools won the “School Participation Award”. Prof. Fong Chee Fun, the provost of Hang Seng Management College and Dr.Tan Mei Ah, the Deputy Director of The Institute for Chinese Language and Culture in Hang Seng Management College attended the award ceremony.
The final competition was also broadcast live on YouTube, which followed by more than one hundred audiences.
This project contains series pre-competition activities, including a total of 20 sections of the five phrases workshops and a total of eight sections of two phrases secondary schools on-site instruction since September 2015. And in June this year, we held a four-day (total of 40 hours) speech summer camp successfully. In the past two years, the captioned project provided over 1,200 person-times training lessons to the students from whole Hong Kong senior secondary schools, and nearly 3,000 person-times participated in the training lessons through the network.
